People of Qamishlo suffer from lack of drinking water

The people of the neighborhoods of Qamishlo city suffer from a lack of water, while the joint head of the Water Directorate said, “Before the attacks, we were providing about 99 percent of the people’s water needs, but now we can only meet 35 percent.”

The citizen, Yusra Younis said that water does not reach their homes for days.  She said: “We face many difficulties. Before the attacks, water was available, and we were able to do our work easily.”

Linda Sharif, Yusra Younis's neighbor, said in this regard: "We bring water from the neighbors using small containers, and heat it on the doorstep for household needs."

Yusra explained: “Despite these attacks, with our cooperation and solidarity, we will overcome these difficulties.”

As for Siham Hamo, she said that she is rationing the use of water in order to provide it for the longest possible period to meet the household’s needs. She added: “Electricity and water are necessities of life, and they are now not available due to the attacks of the Turkish occupation state.”

“Everyone can get water from our home well.”

In order to provide support and assistance to the people, many families who have water wells published their phone numbers on their personal accounts on virtual networking sites, calling on the people to obtain water from their wells. Mother Shaha Ibrahim, a resident of the Corniche neighborhood, said about the issue: “The water from our well is available to everyone. Anyone can get enough of it.”

The water pumping level decreased to 35 percent

The joint head of the Water Directorate in the city of Qamishlo, Wasel Asad, spoke to ANHA agency about the issue. He said: “We operated the stations using electric generators, but despite that, water does not reach all homes.” He added: “In the past, the water pumping rate was up to About 99 percent goes to homes, but now, since the generator provides electricity for only 10 hours, the water pumping rate has decreased to 35 percent.”

The Water Department placed its water tanks at the service of the people 24 hours a day, and Wasel Asad called on the people not to waste water consumption, due to the emergency situation.
