KCK: Newroz represents uprising against injustice, slavery and exploitation

The Co-presidency of the Executive Council of the Kurdistan Communities Union published a written message, on the occasion of Newroz 2024, and confirmed that the first step in the Kurdistan freedom struggle was taken with the Gobuk Dam meeting in Newroz in 1973, and said: “ Kawa Mazloum Doğan ignited the fire of resistance in 1982 and restored Newroz to its historical meaning.” He revived the tradition of resistance, and brought this tradition of resistance to the mountains, plains, villages, and cities of Kurdistan, thus Newroz gained its meaning and historical purpose.

KCK's statement as follows:

“We welcome the holiday of Newroz, which is considered one of the oldest and most meaningful holidays in human history. Newroz is a powerful uprising carried out by the people against injustice, slavery and exploitation. This tradition, which was a symbol of the resistance of the oppressed against the oppressors. We would like to express our gratitude to Kawa Haddad and his contemporary Kawa Mazloum Doğan, whose names were mentioned in the creation of this historic day, and to everyone who celebrates Newroz even today.

We congratulate the ancient peoples of Mesopotamia, the peoples of the Middle East and the world, women, youth, the toiling and the oppressed on the Day of Newroz.

Kurdish people's love for Newroz stems from their passion for freedom

The Kurdish people, the creators of Newroz, have resisted oppression and tyranny throughout history and continued the tradition of Newroz. They have received and celebrated Newroz with enthusiasm and a longing for freedom for thousands of years. Like the people of Newroz, they have maintained their existence and continue to do so. For this reason, Leader Apo defined the Kurdish people as “ People of Newroz. Today, the Kurdish people who yearn for freedom celebrate Newroz with great love and enthusiasm. Newroz is celebrated everywhere before March 21.  The Kurdish people’s love and enthusiasm for Newroz stems from his passion for freedom, so we heartily congratulate the national people of Kurdistan on Newroz, with the same love, enthusiasm, longing and passion for freedom.

We also congratulate all the friends, women and internationals who became part of the struggle and revolution of Kurdistan with the Global Freedom Campaign and played a major role in spreading the revolution of democratic modernity in the world on the occasion of Newroz. We salute them and express our love and gratitude to them. The solidarity of our friends with leader Apo made us happy and strong and strengthened them.
