AANES lights the flame of Newroz, announcing the start of year's celebrations
The components of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria region lit the flame of Newroz 2024, amid confirmation of the Autonomous Administration’s commitment to consolidating the true values and meanings of Newroz, by implementing the content of the region’s social contract, and liberating the occupied Syrian territories.
On Sunday, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria made a statement to public opinion on the occasion of Newroz, which was read by the co-chairman of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Avin Suwaid and Hussein Othman.
The statement recalled the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in order for the flame of Newroz to remain burning and for peoples to live in freedom and dignity.
The Autonomous Administration said in its statement, “We congratulate the people of the region, especially the families of the martyrs, the male and female fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and the Internal Security Forces, on the occasion of Newroz 2024, and we affirm that we in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria region are one hand with our people to consolidate the true values and meanings of the Newroz holiday.” “By implementing the recently ratified social contract, and liberating the occupied Syrian territories, especially Afrin, Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ain), and Girê Spi (Tal Abyad).”
The statement continued, "Today, we light the flame of Newroz and announce the start of Newroz 2024 celebrations, in the cities, towns, and districts of the cantons of North and East Syria, and in the end we call on our people in North and East Syria to participate on this occasion, because our participation in the celebrations of this holiday confirms our insistence on coexistence and consolidating the foundations of brotherhood."
