Kongra Star: struggle will continue until occupation defeated

The Kongra Star Council issued a written statement on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the occupation of Afrin

The statement recalled all the martyrs of the Afrin resistance in the person of the martyrs; Tekoshin, Barin, Avista, Karker, Rojhalat and Ilan stressed the continuation of the struggle and resistance according to the ideology of women’s freedom and the philosophy of the democratic nation, until the occupation is defeated and the people of Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spi return to it.

The statement indicated that the Turkish occupation state began its brutal aerial bombardment with warplanes on Afrin on January 20, 2018, killing children, women, and the elderly, and destroying the region’s infrastructure. It pointed to the silence of international powers, the United Nations, and human rights organizations regarding Turkey’s brutality and violation of moral standards and principles.

The statement continued, referring to the continuation of murders, kidnappings, detention and assaults in Afrin since its occupation 6 years ago until now, and said: “This is a war crime, especially the violations and practices that affect women. In addition, they seek to commit massacres in the month of March, which embraces Nowroz,, and the last of these crimes was the killing of the child Ahmed Madda.”

The statement strongly condemned the violations of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries in occupied Afrin and called on the United Nations, human rights organizations and the international community to put pressure on the Turkish occupation state to withdraw from the occupied areas.

The statement stressed the escalation of the struggle in accordance with the ideology of women's freedom and the philosophy of the democratic nation, and concluded by saying: "We will continue the struggle in the footsteps of the martyrs in order to achieve their goals, and strengthen the resistance until the occupation is defeated and the people of Afrin,  Serêkaniyê and Girê Spi return to it."
