The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that the Israeli army has doubled its military presence in the Golan Heights and the buffer zone adjacent to Syria, amid recent security developments in the region.

The newspaper quoted a senior Israeli army officer as saying: "The Syrian regime is still struggling to consolidate its authority and does not control vast parts of the country, including the coast, the northeast, and the Bedouin areas in the southeast. Therefore, it is unlikely that the border areas with Israel are currently among its priorities."

The officer explained that "the military tactics used in the area are similar to those applied in the West Bank, including surprise checkpoints and constant patrols," stressing that "any warning or intelligence about hostile activity is dealt with immediately and without hesitation."
