Intellectuals: Syria's future depends on holding a Syrian-Syrian dialogue
A number of Syrian intellectuals confirmed that foreign interventions in the Syrian crisis, based on achieving interests, in addition to the intransigence of the Damascus government, have contributed to prolonging the crisis. They called for launching a serious democratic dialogue among Syrians.
Despite the passage of 13 years since the Syrian crisis and the holding of dozens of international conferences and summits, the horizon of a solution is blocked due to the absence of a serious Syrian-Syrian dialogue with the participation of the real representatives of the people. Regarding the importance of strengthening the dialogue between the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Damascus government, our agency conducted interviews with a number of Syrian intellectuals in the city of Aleppo.
"The intransigence of the Damascus government contributed to prolonging the crisis"
In this context, writer Walid Habash pointed to the beginnings of the Syrian crisis, and said: "At the beginning of the Syrian movement in 2011, the demands of the protesters were justified in achieving democracy, but the intervention of regional and international parties created a deviation in the course of this movement, turning it into a crisis that Syria has been suffering from for 13 years."
Habash explained the Turkish role in Syria, and described it as "the most malicious party in distorting the course of the movement by infiltrating Salafists and Takfiri jihadists across the border to bring them into Syria, in order to serve the Turkish occupation project and implement the National Charter."
The writer praised the position of the people of North and East Syria and some Kurdish parties that adopted the third line and believed in the democratic nation project, and said: "Forces were formed to achieve the principle of Self-Defense until work is done to form a unified dialogue platform that brings together all Syrians."
Habash stressed the need to make Syrian cities centers for launching dialogues instead of Geneva and Astana. He criticized the international and regional parties that are obstructing the launch of a Syrian dialogue under the auspices of the Autonomous Administration after excluding its representatives from attending the dialogues hosted by some countries, in response to their interests in extending the life of the crisis.
Syrian writer Walid Habash believes that "the intransigence of the Damascus government and its failure to change its mentality is the primary factor in spoiling the dialogues."
He stressed that the most appropriate solution for the future of Syria is "launching a dialogue between the administration, the Damascus government, and the rest of the other Syrian parties to work on expelling the occupiers and unifying efforts to improve the Syrian reality."
"The future of Syria is linked to establishing democracy under the leadership of the Autonomous Administration"
In his turn, history professor Mohammad Sheikh Qanbar believes that the continuation of the Syrian crisis stems from the pressure exerted by the countries benefiting from it, which are "the countries intervening without excluding anyone".
Sheikh Qanbar believes that Ankara is desperate to get closer to Damascus in order to "export its political and economic crises", in order to fight the Autonomous Administration and its democratic project in Syria, which will deepen the crisis if it is achieved; because the policies of the occupying Turkish state have not changed since the time of the Ottomans. They hide under the banner of religion and Islam to plunder the wealth of the people, whether in Cyprus, Libya, Syria or any other countries they have intervened in".
Sheikh Qanbar concluded his speech by saying: "The new future of Syria is linked to establishing democracy under the leadership of the Autonomous Administration, far from nationalist ideas under the umbrella of the Damascus government, or radical Takfiri ideas according to the approach of the mercenaries affiliated with the occupying Turkish state."
The Autonomous Administration did not use the "veto" in dialogue with any Syrian party
For his part, writer Mohammad Ali noted that "Russia is playing a negative role by prolonging the crisis by exerting pressure on the Damascus government to achieve rapprochement with Ankara."
Mohammad Ali believes that "it is not surprising that the governments of Iraq and Iran have entered the file of accelerating normalization between the Turkish occupation and the Damascus government, since the Quadripartite Government was responsible for the previous planning and conspiracy against the Kurdish people distributed in those areas with the aim of exterminating them from all aspects."
He stressed that the Autonomous Administration did not use the "veto" in dialogue with any Syrian party, which confirms its seriousness in working to end the crisis that has deepened the pain of the Syrians. He concluded his speech by stressing the need to adopt UN Resolution No. 2,254 regarding the Syrian crisis in any future dialogues that will be launched between the Autonomous Administration and the Damascus government.
