Ibrahim Imam Alou, currently residing in the town of Tal Tamr, stated: “Since the fall of the previous regime, we’ve been awaiting any serious steps toward reclaiming our occupied areas. Unfortunately, the Damascus government has yet to take any concrete action to facilitate our return to Sere Kaniye.” He added, “The Turkish occupation did not stop at displacing us. It continues to apply pressure through various means, including cutting off water from the Alouk wells and targeting power infrastructure — all in efforts to destabilize the region further and push us into a second wave of displacement.”

Alou reaffirmed his inalienable right to return, calling on international actors to intervene and secure the conditions necessary for a dignified return, including reparations for damages caused by the occupation.

For her part, Asrar Naami, another displaced resident, echoed the same demand but with clear stipulations: “We will not return unless there is a safe environment under the protection of internal security forces.”

She also urged international bodies to “break their silence on the Turkish violations in Sere Kaniye and hold those responsible accountable.”

Meanwhile, Abdul Karim al-Abdul Karim voiced hope for a swift return but stressed that “a return remains impossible as long as Turkish forces and their mercenaries remain in place.” He concluded by calling on the Damascus government to assume its responsibilities, facilitate the return of the displaced, ensure proper compensation, and hold accountable all those involved in the destruction of towns.
