The Turkish authorities continue to impose the torture and genocide system on Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and human rights activists and jurists in Deir –ez-Zor canton confirmed that this system is illegal, and international powers must stand with peoples yearning for freedom, and pressure the Turkish occupation state to end this system.

Lawyer Basem al-Khalaf, a member of the Syrian Lawyers Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan in Deir-ez-Zor canton, said: "The one-year deadline given by the Council of European Ministers to the Turkish occupation state to clarify its position on human rights violations in Imrali prison is illegal, especially with regard to the personality of the leader who has been cut off from communication for 3 years."

Bassem al-Khalaf explained: “The Turkish occupation state was invited to take into account the implementation of the agreements it signed, especially with regard to human rights, which indicate the need to take concrete measures to implement the decisions and recommendations issued by the European institutions that monitor the implementation of international agreements.”

The member of the Syrian Lawyers Initiative continued: “From our legal point of view, depriving Leader Abdullah Ocalan of his right to communicate with his lawyer and family for 3 consecutive years since March 2021 is a crime against him.”

For his part, the legal expert Thamer Al-Sulaiman and member of the Social Justice Council in Deir –ez-Zor canton said: “Depriving Leader Ocalan of his right to hope, and violating his rights to freedom of expression and self-defense, represents a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter,” stressing that the arrest of Leader Abdullah Ocalan was arbitrary, and that he did not have a fair trial.

The member of the Social Justice Council indicated that Turkey ignores all our demands to release Leader Abdullah Ocalan, despite his exceeding the legal age for imprisonment, and that its failure to respond to any demand is a violation.

Al-Sulaiman stressed: "We are peoples, human rights activists and intellectuals who continue to organize initiatives to achieve physical freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan and achieve victory and freedom."

In his turn, the administrator of the Reconciliation Committee in Deir-ez-Zor canton, Imad al-Fadel, said: "There is no doubt that what Leader Abdullah Ocalan is being subjected to is a great injustice, and that the Turkish occupation state is fighting the project of the democratic nation and blocking the leader's thought from societies."

Al-Fadel demanded an end to the system of torture and genocide followed by the Turkish occupation state, which is a violation of international covenants and agreements.
