With the fall of the Baath regime in Syria, the hopes of Syrians for achieving the long-awaited democratic change were renewed—change that would end decades of authoritarianism, marginalization, and one-party rule dominated by a single color and a single national identity. However, the interim government formed by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham issued a constitutional declaration for the country on 13 March 2025, which closely resembles the constitutions of the Baath Party and completely contradicts the objectives of the Syrian revolution.

There are no signs of a solution in the near future to the crisis of pumping water from Alouk Station to more than one million people in Hasaka, amid new information indicating that no concrete steps have been taken to assess the condition of the station or to end its shutdown and resume water pumping regularly.
