This came through a statement made by the Office of the Expatriate Organization of Shahba and Afrin in Manbij and its countryside, today, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, attended by female members of the organization’s office.

It was stated at the beginning of the statement, “Throughout the ages of history, women have suffered from intolerance and deprivation of all their rights (...), and at a time when women in the regions of NE Syria have made qualitative leaps in order to obtain their freedom and regain their stolen rights, they have become an example and a witness to women’s ability to engage in struggle and success in all aspects of life, and she was the bearer of the banner of breaking the tyranny and terrorism of ISIS.”

The statement indicated that women in the occupied territories are subject to the control of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, are deprived of education, choice and work, and are exposed to various types of harassment, persecution and violence, and cases of kidnapping and forcible detention of women and crimes of rape go unpunished.

During the statement, the Office of the Expatriate Organization of Shahba and Afrin in Manbij and its countryside called on all women’s and human rights institutions to put an end to the crimes committed against women in the occupied Syrian regions, which rise to the level of organized crime, war crimes, and racist practices.
