Informed sources disclosed to ANHA Agency that the Administration approved a proposal to reduce the price of diesel allocated to generators operating for 16 hours daily, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and improve residents' quality of life.
Previously, diesel subsidies were limited to generators operating for 8 hours, forcing operators to purchase additional fuel at unsubsidized rates, which increased financial pressures on both operators and subscribers.
Under the new measures, effective across all areas under the Autonomous Administration’s jurisdiction, diesel will be provided at a subsidized service price for 16-hour generator operations. This decision, formalized following a meeting with relevant stakeholders, aims to extend household generator operation from 8 to 16 hours daily, addressing frequent power outages exacerbated by rising temperatures.
The Administration has assumed full financial and administrative responsibility for subsidizing diesel, with the service price set at 125 Syrian pounds per liter. The Administration will cover the price differential, amounting to 5,375 Syrian pounds per liter, providing direct support to citizens. Operations will be regulated by specialized committees, ensuring equitable distribution tailored to the geographical specifics of each neighborhood.
To ensure compliance, dedicated committees will conduct regular inspections, with immediate penalties for violations such as reduced operating hours or manipulation. Repeated offenses may result in the confiscation of non-compliant generators.
Discussions also addressed standardizing the ampere pricing based on service rates to ensure equitable and stable distribution. A follow-up meeting with relevant committees is scheduled in the coming days to finalize an operational framework, including official working hours and a definitive ampere price aligned with the subsidized diesel rate. The finalized system is set to be announced on June 25, 2025, with implementation commencing in early July.
This initiative reflects the Autonomous Administration’s commitment to providing effective support and improving electricity services amid challenges stemming from the destruction of power generation infrastructure due to Turkish attacks on the region.
The Administration underscores that these measures aim to enhance electricity stability and reduce financial burdens on citizens, particularly in light of the difficult circumstances caused by ongoing threats and attacks on energy infrastructure in the region.
