3 soldiers injured in mine blast north of Raqqa

The Media and Communications Department of the Ministry of Defense reported that three soldiers from the Military Engineering Directorate sustained varying degrees of injury when a mine exploded while they were carrying out mine-clearance operations in Al-Hurriya village in the Tel Abyad area of northern Raqqa Governorate.

The incident comes amid ongoing efforts to survey and clear mines and war remnants in the area. In recent days, units of the Military Engineering Directorate have announced the dismantling of more than 30 anti-tank mines, in addition to more than 20 explosive devices and a booby-trapped gas cylinder, and the reopening of a road leading to several homes along the Tel Abyad axis.

The Tel Abyad area has previously witnessed mine-related incidents, including the deaths of a father and his child in July after a mine exploded in Al-Jabriya village west of Tel Abyad. At the time, military engineering teams were carrying out operations to clear the area of mines and war remnants.

Military engineering teams continue to clear mines and unexploded ordnance in several parts of Syria, amid ongoing risks to personnel and civilians, particularly in areas that witnessed military operations in previous years.
