Citizen killed during armed robbery in Homs

A citizen was killed by gunmen in the Western Housing neighborhood, near university campus in Homs within a new crime to be committed in the city and its countryside amidst the security chaos and lawlessness.

Armed men shot and killed a citizen in the Western Housing neighborhood near university housing in Homs, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

According to the Observatory, the victim was on his way home after selling his car, carrying a bag containing a large sum of money, when the gunmen stopped him on a motorcycle. The perpetrators attempted to rob his money, and when he refused to hand over the bag, they fired several bullets at him, killing him instantly.

This incident comes at a time when several areas in Syria are witnessing a significant increase in armed robberies, reflecting the ongoing security chaos in the country and the authorities' failure to maintain security and prosecute the perpetrators.

According to the Observatory, the number of criminal offenses and murders in various Syrian cities since the beginning of 2025 has reached 307, leaving 346 victims, among them 47 women and 28 children.
