The speeches delivered at the March 8 celebration in Aleppo emphasized the necessity of escalating the pace of the struggle to achieve physical freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Under the slogan “With the free will of women, we end the policies of genocide, occupation, and isolation,” activities to celebrate March 8 (International Women’s Day) were launched in the city of Aleppo, with the participation of hundreds of components of the city, in addition to the presence of representatives of the People’s Party and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, and independent female figures coming from inside Syria.

The celebration, organized in Newroz Square in the Shaqif area of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, began with a minute of silence, followed by several speeches by the member of the Kongra Star Coordination in Aleppo, Fahima Hamo, in which she affirmed that the revolutionary struggle of Kurdish women and the women of the Middle East thanks to leader Abdullah Ocalan.”

As for Akin Tolheldan, the leader in the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), she confirmed during her speeches that March 8 had become the day of retaliation for the male authoritarian mentality in all its forms.

Akin said: “Leader Abdullah Ocalan, with his continuous resistance for more than 25 years, has become an example of resistance and sacrifice."

For her part, Haifa Hassan, spokeswoman for the Syrian Women's Council in Aleppo, said that Syrian women have suffered from the scourges of the continuing raging war, and therefore the pace of struggle and coordination must be increased in order to reach a free, democratic, pluralistic, decentralized homeland.

As for Naglaa Farouk, the head of the media office in the People’s Party, she congratulated the mothers of the martyrs who raised their sons and daughters to love the country and respect women.

The celebration continues with singing and folk dancing performances by the Hilal Zerin Movement and the Jameel Horo Center for Culture and Art.
