Ali Rahmoun confirms Syrian National Democratic Forces Conference will be held during spring

The Syrian Democratic Council announced on several occasions an effort to hold a Syrian national conference between Syrian national democratic forces and figures to reach joint consensuses in order to push the Syrian crisis towards a solution.

The conference was scheduled to be held in June of last year, after several consultative meetings were held at the level inside Syria and abroad, but many obstacles prevented it from being held.

Member of the Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ali Rahmoun, explained that the Syrian Democratic Council is the main supporter of holding a national conference, as it organized with a number of Syrian national forces and figures over the past years several meetings (the Stockholm Track) under the auspices of the Swedish Foreign Ministry and the Ulf Palme Center for Peace.

Rahmoun pointed out that: “The conference was scheduled to be held during the past year, but a number of circumstances prevented it from being held, the most important of which is international pressure on the one hand, specifically regional, most notably the Turkish state and the government in Damascus, which has no interest in the presence of national democratic forces on the Syrian scene, in addition to the events that took place in the Deir ez-Zor region and their impact on the region, especially since the government in Damascus was behind those events, in addition to holding the fourth Syrian Democratic Council conference, and as a result of all of those factors, the conference was postponed.

Ali Rahmoun explained that they believe that the Syrian National Democratic Forces Conference will be held during the spring of this year, according to current preparations.
