Al-Darbasiya protests against "Constitutional Declaration" enter 2nd day
Activists in the city of Al-Darbasiya organized protests for the second consecutive day, rejecting the "Constitutional Declaration" issued by the Damascus authority and calling for a new constitution that guarantees pluralism and decentralization.
The popular protests in the city of Al-Darbasiya, in the Jazera Canton, entered their second day in rejection of the "Constitutional Declaration" issued by the Damascus authority, amid demands for its amendment to reflect the aspirations of all components of the Syrian people.
Calls for a pluralistic and decentralized constitution
Political activists, social figures, and cultural personalities participated in the protests, affirming that the constitutional declaration does not represent the will of the people but rather entrenches authoritarianism and exclusion.
Protesters raised banners with slogans such as: "We demand a pluralistic and decentralized constitution" and "The new constitution entrenches authoritarianism and dictatorship."
Public rejection and determination for change
Protesters emphasized that the new constitution does not take into account Syria's ethnic and religious diversity and fails to provide adequate guarantees for equality among all components. They also stressed the need for the constitution to result from a comprehensive national dialogue that ensures justice and democratic rights for all.
