Yasser Suleiman: There are no real steps for Damascus to get the Syrians out from crisis

The speech of the Deputy of the co-chairmanship of the General Council in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Yasser al-Suleiman, came in an interview with our agency, about the changes in the policy of the Damascus government, and the developments of the outcomes of the Arab summit hosted by Saudi Arabia.

After an absence of more than 12 years, the Damascus government participated in the Arab summit held in Jeddah on May 19, after the Arab foreign ministers agreed on the 7th of the same month to return it, and the summit ended with a final statement bearing the name of the Jeddah Declaration, which dealt with a series of issues. The mission related to the Arab world, including Syria.

The Jeddah Declaration stressed the need to intensify Arab efforts aimed at helping Syria overcome its crisis, and to promote appropriate conditions for the return of Syrian refugees, at a time when Arab leaders expressed their hope that Syria's return to its seat in the Arab League would contribute to supporting the stability of this country.

The deputy co-presidency of the General Council in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Yasser al-Suleiman, believes that pressure should have been placed on the Damascus government to push for a comprehensive solution to the Syrian crisis, and to end the suffering of the Syrians, by urging it to pay attention to national activities, especially the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

On the aftermath of the summit, and in implementation of its outputs, he said: "The return of Syria to the Arab League was based on a step-by-step policy, but the Damascus government is still procrastinating and to this day has not fulfilled its obligations, nor has it taken any real steps that could contribute to a political and peaceful solution, to get the Syrians out." from the neck of the bottle and secure a decent life for them on their land.”

At the same time, stressing the Autonomous Administration's readiness to work jointly to solve the Syrian crisis, he said: "The Autonomous Administration launched an initiative to solve the Syrian crisis and set a road map that could be built, increased, or modified in order to get the Syrians out of their ordeal."

And he indicated that what came out of the Arab summit coincides with the vision and initiative of the Autonomous Administration to solve the Syrian crisis, and he considered the initiative an embodiment of the Jeddah Declaration regarding Syria.

Al-Suleiman affirmed the Damascus government's adherence to the military option, and added: "It was assumed that the return of the Damascus government to the Arab League would be followed by a movement by the first regarding a peaceful solution, the pursuit of the return of the displaced and the displaced, the disclosure of the fate of the disappeared and the detainees, and the accountability of the regime's symbols that were involved in the shedding of Syrian blood."
