​​​​​​​Zenobia Women: Arab women are on the front lines and pioneers in decision-making

Under the slogan "Women, Life, Freedom, towards a Women's Revolution," the women of northern and eastern Syria are preparing to welcome International Women's Day, which came as a result of the struggle of thousands of women to obtain their rights.

In this regard, a member of the office of the Zenobia Women's Assembly in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, Shahrzad al-Jassem, told ANHA’s agency, "We, the Arab women in Deir ez-Zor, welcome March 8, the International Women's Day, with all due appreciation, as it is the day of the uprising and revolution of women who struggled and sacrificed herself." She gained her freedom and dignity, and this designation came from the sisters who worked in the textile factory for low wages, while the man took the largest wage, and the women's uprising at that time was for justice and equality.

She added, "Through the demonstrations and revolutions that they carried out, women obtained their rights, and March 8 was the day of their freedom."

She pointed out, "We, the Arab women, take the lesson from these women who sacrificed their lives for the sake of freedom, and today we see these women at the forefront of the revolutions for this, and today we see Arab women in the front and pioneering ranks in decision-making and in all fields."

And she continued: "We would have welcomed the 8th of March in a different way than in previous years, but the catastrophe of the earthquake that hit the country, which claimed the lives of thousands of women, men and children, as there are families still under the rubble, made us welcome this day with sorrow, and our activities were limited to meetings and marches."

"The women of Deir ez-Zor presented several axes for these events and activities, so they held extensive meetings in all regions of Deir ez-Zor, and held marches," she said.

She concluded her speech by saying, "The women's revolution in Iran began with the killing of Gina Amini under the slogan "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî Women, Life, Freedom". We will dedicate these events and activities to all the freedom martyrs who demanded freedom and sacrificed their lives for the sake of women's freedom."

In her turn, the citizen, Reem Al-Abed from Deir-ez-Zor, said, "We, the women in Deir-ez-Zor, receive the International Day of Toiling Women, on March 8, by remembering our martyrs who sacrificed their lives and made heroic resistance against authoritarian regimes and broke the chains of slavery in order to achieve freedom and achieve justice, equality and democracy."

"On this occasion, we salute the leader Abdullah Ocalan, the owner of the philosophy of life and freedom, who liberated women from slavery and oppression," she noted.

She concluded by saying, "The level of struggle led by women for freedom must be strengthened against all fascist and occupation attacks, the dominant patriarchal power and the genocidal policy targeting women."

As for Dima al-Ali, she said, "We congratulate March 8, the day of the toiling woman who fought for freedom, and who took a pioneering role in the co-chairmanship system in the organizational structure of the Democratic Autonomous Administration DAA system, which became a model and source of inspiration for all women and historical gains."

At the end of her speech, she called on "all women of the world to go out to the squares and raise their voices against all forms of genocide until justice, democratic equality, and a free and dignified life are achieved."

The citizen, Sherine Muhammad, from Zerghan district of al-Hasakah canton, blessed International Women's Day for all the women of the world, especially the women of Zerghan, and said, "We did not leave our land and homes despite the targeting of our homes and vital facilities in the district by missiles and artillery, to prove to the enemy that we are sticking to our land."

Sherine stated that "the women of Zerghan district heroically resisted the Turkish aggression, and proved their courage and heroism."

For her part, Khawla Khalaf said, "Our work continues despite the targeting of the institutions in which we work, such as the people's municipality, the clinic, and others."

Khawla congratulated the International Women's Day on all the women of the world and the toiling women in Zerghan district, stressing that the insistence of the women in Zerghan district to stay in their land is evidence of their determination and determination to resist and sacrifice.
