Robin, Heras to ANHA: Will Biden be ready to stop a new campaign of invasion and ethnic cleansing

 During the past weeks and days, the Turkish occupation state renewed its threats to launch new attacks on the regions of northern and eastern Syria.

 As usual, the occupying power seeks to create pretexts with the aim of implementing these threats, as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the Syrian Democratic Forces, without any evidence, of being behind a missile attack targeting an occupation convoy in Syria, killing two members of the Turkish Special Forces.

 In turn, the Syrian Democratic Forces denied the allegations of the Turkish Ministry of Defense of carrying out attacks in the occupied areas, stressing that these are "false and come within the framework of the Turkish occupation's attempts to justify its attacks against our areas."

 The media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces published a statement in response to the Turkish occupation’s accusations against SDF of bombing the border city of Jarabulus occupied by Turkey, and the statement stated: “Our forces have nothing to do with the bombing of the city of Jarablus or the Turkish border. We believe that it is a repeated Turkish intelligence game, implemented by mercenaries.”  They are supported by the Erdogan regime, and the Turkish people know them well.”

 The President of the Turkish occupation, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has set his sights on eliminating the experience of the Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria.

 Reports say that during his discussions with the Russian and American sides, Erdogan was unable to obtain the green light to launch a new occupation attack on the regions of north and east Syria, so he began using drones to target the region.

 For the second time in a row, the Turkish occupation drones attacked a civilian car in Kobani.

 In this context, Reuters news agency quoted two Turkish officials as saying that Erdogan will discuss this matter with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, during the G-20 summit, which will be held in the Italian capital, Rome, at the end of October.

 A report by the American Al-Monitor website said that Erdogan has stated that he is ready to launch another military attack on the Autonomous Administration areas in northern and eastern Syria, or that Erdogan may want to send a signal to US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin that there is more work to be done to address the Syrian crisis, but on Turkey's terms."

 Biden administration is different from Trump

 It seems that the era of President Joe Biden is different from that of his predecessor Trump in the context of the relationship with Turkey and the Syrian Democratic Forces. The Biden administration, according to Nicholas Heras, a senior researcher at the American New Lines Institute, "is still working with SDF, so that there is no pro-Turkey bloc within the administration."  Biden, which would push for a new Turkish operation in Syria, and this is an important difference between Biden's team and Trump's team."

 US author and researcher at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Michael Rubin, agreed with Heras that "the US administration will not give Turkey the green light for an operation in the way that President Trump and his special envoy James Jeffrey did."

 But that's not the only question. Erdogan doesn't need a green light. Instead, the question is whether Biden will be willing to do anything to stop a new campaign of invasion and ethnic cleansing? Will he be willing to cripple the Turkish economy with sanctions?  

 Disastrous effect on the fight against terrorism

 The Syrian Democratic Forces said that the Turkish threats and attacks on the areas of northern and eastern Syria impede the anti-terror operation and contribute to the resurgence of ISIS activity.

 During a previous and exclusive interview with our agency, SDF spokesperson, Aram Hanna, warned of the danger of Turkish threats, saying: "Terrorists use the occupied areas without supervision and prosecution. The results will be catastrophic if the occupying country attempts to fabricate new attacks."

 In this context, Nicholas Heras, a senior researcher at the American New Lines Institute, told our agency: "Any Turkish military operation in northeastern Syria will have a disastrous impact on the anti-ISIS campaign in Syria because the United States is focusing on the efforts of the SDF leadership in that battle."  ".

 In turn, Michael Rubin said: "Let's be clear, there are two sides to the fight against ISIS. Turkey is an ally of ISIS and helped ISIS rise and prosper. While the People's Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces were the heroes of the fight against ISIS. If Turkey moved against the Syrian Democratic Forces, it would help ISIS because of  The chaos caused by the fighting will thus undermine the work of fighting ISIS.”

 Erdogan distracts Turks from stealing billions of dollars

 Some attribute the Turkish president’s talk about new attacks on northern and eastern Syria to the deterioration of the economic situation in Turkey, where unemployment rates have increased and the value of the currency has fallen dramatically and reached record levels. Therefore, Erdogan seeks to promote military operations in order to export Turkey’s internal crisis abroad.

 Heras believes that Erdogan, through his hostile rhetoric on Syria, "aims to improve his domestic situation, as Syria is an internal issue in his political programme."

 As for Rubin, he said in this context, "Erdogan has lost or may have stolen as much as $130 billion in Turkey's foreign exchange reserves and desperately wants to distract the public by rallying nationalists around the Turkish flag."

 Rubin concluded, “His racism may distract some Turks for a short time, but in the long run, they will wonder, why the Turkish lira has depreciated by 90% in a decade while Erdogan and his family live in luxury.”
