​​​​​​​Özgüneş: Turkey seeks to overcome its political crisis through war

 Turkey's Erdogan threatened again on October 11 to occupy areas of north and east Syria.  His Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu repeated the same threats two days after Erdogan's comments.

These statements, which came on the second anniversary of the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, drew attention to NES.  The AKP-MHP government which did not achieve their aspirations internally or externally, aim to postpone the elections by escalating the war.

 We spoke with the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) parliamentarian in Şırnak, Hasan Ozgunç, about the threats of the Turkish state and how the Kurdish people can protect Rojava from possible attacks.

Özgüneş said that the AKP-MHP government are trying to establish themselves on two goals: "The Turkish state, by reviving the Ottoman dream, wants to increase its influence on the countries of the Middle East and Europe. The second goal is to eliminate the achievements of the Kurdish people, which it perceives as an obstacle."  Erdogan wanted during the years 2013 and 2014, during his meetings with Mr. Ocalan, to harness the north and east of Syria to serve it, and wanted it to struggle against Assad. After that, it supported mercenaries like ISIS.Of course, these demands of the Turkish state were not met.  That is why it has launched attacks on Rojava and Bakur Kurdistan for 6 years to break the will of the Kurdish people and eliminate Rojava, like the Sri Lankan model. There is no doubt that the Turkish state does not want Rojava to receive political recognition, and it has clearly voiced this."

“They want to carry out ISIS task, this time themselves.”

 He explained that the Justice and Development Party government continues the role of ISIS mercenaries, and said: "The Turkish state rushed to the aid of ISIS mercenaries, and launched attacks aimed at revenge for the mercenaries and eliminating the achievements of the Kurdish people. In these attacks, mercenaries of Al-Nusra and the Free Army were used. These mercenaries who occupied Afrin are used in Girê Spi and Serekaniye by the Turkish state in order to launch a new attack. The fascist government is targeting the Rojava revolution again. But the occupation policy of the Turkish state is failing, and the opposition parties in Turkey are standing strong in the face of the AKP." 

He explained that the Turkish state is in a difficult situation and it is looking for a way out for its occupation attacks.  He pointed out that the Turkish state cannot attack without taking into account regional balances.  He continued, "Iran, Russia, the United States of America and the Arab countries will show their position against the approach of the Turkish state, which is deepening the crisis. The American president said last time that the Turkish state is authoritarian and dictatorial. This is not something easy to say. The Turkish state wants to manage the people through repression and a policy of  the arrest and the continuation of its occupation. Through the dirty war, the AKP government wants to overcome this stage, which threatens that it will lose in the elections. Erdogan is expanding the war to Rojava, but he will not achieve what he aspires to this time."

 "The Turkish state threatens Rojava at every opportunity"

 He pointed out that the Turkish state is trying to use war as a bargaining tool, and said: "Erdogan is trying to convince the Turkish peoples of war, by showing Rojava as a threat to them. The Turkish state wants to deepen the war further, and rebuild its presence in the Middle East again. The drums of war are beating  once again, in order for it and its mercenaries to bargain with America and Russia."

 He also indicated that the Kurdish people will not give Erdogan a chance, and that he will resist against all the occupiers.  He continued, "The Kurds have taken great serious steps for their presence in the Middle East and the world. Through wars and attacks, the Turkish state is trying to suppress the initiative and achievements of the Kurds. There is no anti-Kurdish state on the historical stage today. Even if the Turkish state attacks the Kurds' achievements, it will  It is defeated everywhere, and any possible war will open the way for Turkey to be exposed to what happened in Iraq and Syria."

"The Turkish state wants to benefit from the conflicts"

 He said that the Turkish state is taking advantage of the US-Russian conflict to continue its occupation attacks.  He continued, "With his last statement, Erdogan has started a new stage of blackmail against the United States of America and Russia to revitalize its bargaining through blackmail. The Turkish state is convinced that by violating all agreements, the United States and Russia will turn a blind eye to their attacks. But there are the Iranians.  And the Arabs in the region will not remain silent about these attacks.”

 He referred to US President Biden's statements, as the US State Department said: "The United States of America has made it clear that it will support the Syrian Democratic Forces in the struggle against ISIS in Rojava. This shows that the Turkish state has not achieved what it aspires to from the United States of America. The Kurdish people believe  with his own strength first, he will fight back against it all."

 "They want to postpone the elections"

 Özgüneş said, “The AKP and the MHP are resorting to war policies to cover up their defeat. Despite their apparent loss of power in the upcoming elections, they want to postpone it through various moves. The AKP and MHP’s biggest fear is that  It is accounted for after the loss."

 Parliamentarian Hasan Ozgunç also stated that the Turkish state's occupation attacks on Rojava would constitute a major blow to domestic and foreign policy.  He continued: "The Turkish state, which has been fighting the Kurdish people in Bakur Kurdistan for 40 years, says it is spending more than $500 billion on it. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed and about 4,000 villages were evacuated. Millions of people were also displaced to Europe and major cities (capitals).  The Turkish state has remained desperate today everywhere. The biggest reason for this is that the Kurdish issue has not yet been resolved. It is in a clear state of Saddam. They have launched the biggest attack on the Kurds. The situation of Syria shows once again that the Turkish state will face a great danger as long as the Kurdish issue is not resolved.  And if the Turkish state continues its hostility to the Kurds with the same Ottoman mentality, it will be destroyed. And if the state attacks Rojava, it will lose, because it does not have enough power for war, and it does not have that will either.
