Syrian women's council is unique achievement for all Syrian, and Middle east women

Syrian Women's Council was founded on September 8^th, 2017 in Manbij, a constituent confederation organized under the slogan "Organized Women the Basis for Establishing a Pluralism and Decentralization Syria" with attendance more than 224 women from women's and civil society feminists, as well as independent feminist's personalities.

Large numbers of feminists' movements had participated from inside and out Syria to bring the women voice and their suffering to international forums, they also participated in discussions on a political solution in Syria with remarkable merit.

Today marks the 4^th anniversary of the establishment of the Syrian Women's Council. About its establishment, ANHA held a meeting with the General Coordinator of the Syrian Women's Council, Lina Barakat.

Lina Barakat indicated at the beginning of the talk that the Women's Council was established in difficult circumstances since the age of the Syrian crisis and at a time when women's suffering was exacerbated.

She went to say that "the women issue is not only related with the Syrian crisis and their problems and the violations they are exposed to have existed for decades, Therefore, women should enhance themselves and defend themselves against everything they are exposed to from the extremist organizations or the war, so from this side, we sought to gather all Syrian women under the custody of Syrian Women's Council to protect their rights."

She touched upon the women those who live in the camps, especially al-Hol Camp in which many awareness of rehabilitation courses and psychology support for woman and children had been held, the council works hard to reach the largest number of women. 

Syrian Women's Council managed to communicate with the women in the Middle east and joining to the initiative for for security, peace and the fight against the annihilation of women, the Second Conference of Women in the Middle East and to reach out to foreign platforms, the European Union and the United Nations Women's Body to communicate women's voices.

About the crimes of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries against women, Lina Barakat said: "We have sent many letters to international actors and made numerous statements and appeals for action at the international level to protect women in particular and the Syrian people in general."

In conclusion, the General Coordinator of the Syrian Women's Council, Lina Barakat, wished the Syrian Women's Council well and success and paid tribute to the resistance shown every day by women to the consequences of the conflict and the sacrifices they had made.
