The Peace Mothers spent their first night in Kurtuluş Park in the capital, Ankara, after traveling from 24 cities across Turkey and various Kurdish regions.

The mothers began their open-ended sit-in on Monday, calling for concrete steps to support the “peace and democratic society process”, as well as Abdullah Ocalan’s physical freedom and the release of political prisoners.

The mothers continued their sit-in throughout the night, accompanied by songs, ululations and folk dances. Early in the morning, they headed to the headquarters of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) due to adverse weather conditions.

The mothers then headed to parliament to meet with political parties. A delegation of Peace Mothers, comprising Piroz Kurt, Adalet Çay and Hidayet Demir, met with Justice Minister Akın Gürlek to discuss the peace and democratic society process and the steps required. They conveyed their demands for a meeting with leader Abdullah Ocalan, the release of political prisoners and the necessary measures for the next phase.

The Peace Mothers also met with Filiz Kılıç, Deputy Chair of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) parliamentary group, at the party’s parliamentary group office, where they presented their demands and proposals.

Meanwhile, another delegation of Peace Mothers, comprising Nuran Seçkin, Emine Eren, Afife Kartal and Meryem Korkmaz, visited the New Path parliamentary group. The Peace Mothers’ meetings with political parties are continuing.
