On Friday, a senior Pentagon official said that the Biden administration will not reverse the ban imposed by the previous Donald Trump administration on Turkey's purchase of F-35 stealth fighters, according to the "Defense One" website.

Washington believes that the Russian S-400 defense system could reveal technological secrets of its advanced combat system.

"Turkey is a long-time ally and valued in NATO, but their decision to purchase the S-400 does not comply with Turkey's commitments as an ally of the United States and NATO," Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said during a press briefing on Friday afternoon.

"Our position has not changed, the S-400 is not compatible with the F-35, Turkey has been suspended from this program, and we urge Turkey not to keep the S-400 system," Kirby added.

The administration of former President Donald Trump had criticized Ankara's purchase of the Russian systems and decided to prevent Turkey from purchasing F-35s, and stopped the Turkish pilot training program for this type of aircraft.

The F-35 is a fifth-generation multi-role fighter, the most advanced on the market today, and one of its most important features is stealth and the execution of accurate strikes against its targets.

Last December, Washington decided to impose sanctions on the defense industries sector in Turkey.
