American bomber over Baltic Sea, 2 Russian fighters intercepted it

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that two Russian "Su-27" jets intercepted a strategic bomber of the US Air Force over the waters of the Baltic Sea.

According to a statement by the Russian National Center for Defense Affairs Management, "On August 28^th, Russian air defense control systems detected an air target approaching the borders of the Russian state over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, and in order to identify the air target and prevent it violating the borders of the Russian state, two aircrafts of "Su-27" from the Baltic Fleet Air Force intercepted the target."

The statement added that "Russian aircrafts approached the air target at a safe distance, and it was identified as a B-52H strategic bomber belonging to the US Air Force, and after the foreign military aircraft moved away from the borders of the Russian state, the Russian jets returned safely to their bases."

The statement stated that "the full flight of the Russian Su-27 fighter jets were carried out in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace," adding that "the American aircraft was not allowed to violate the borders of the Russian state."
