During statement: Al-Shahba young women call on women's movements to take action towards violations practiced against women

The Young Women Union for Afrin region issued a statement calling on the international community and women's movements to take action against the injustice of the right of women, and said: "Several agreements, laws and provisions are not sufficient to extricate women from what they suffer unless there are practical actions."

Dozens of members of the Young Women Union gathered in the square of Berxwedan camp in al-Shahba canton, holding the flags of the Young Women Union, pictures of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and a banner with "The uprising of young women is revenge" written on.

The statement was read in Arabic by the Co-Chair of the Youth and Sports Body for Afrin region Guleh Jemmo.

The statement included: "Women have struggled since time immemorial in all areas of life, starting from securing the best life for their children to extracting their right to vote in the political process following the Renaissance age in Europe. Dozens of feminist movements that took the resistance as an approach and goal emerged, and thus imposed many principles on the countries and the international community in general. There were successively women's resistance movements on the basis of the great legacy, and they demanded their rights and duties, justice and equality until their demands expanded to occupy democracy and freedom in the political process as well, and the vigor shown by women during their celebration of their international day on the eighth of March of this year cannot be overlooked.

Directly, the more women's resistance and struggle escalated, the hatred of the enemy and the mentality of the classic man controlling the world politically and militarily increased. This mentality represented in the tools of power, the state, the economy and all areas of life crushes women and formulates models of them that serve their interests no more, as the increasing cases of violence in all parts of the earth can no longer be hidden because they have become very clear. Amid the biological warfare (Corona virus) and its aftermath, direct and indirect forms of violence have multiplied; killing, rape, suicide, abuse, kidnapping, displacement and other ugliest acts contrary to societal morals, Afrin stands as a witness to all that we mentioned above, at the hands of hired mercenaries, the heads of the Government of Justice and Development which in turn makes women represent the whisper in the state of citizenship that assumes their rule, hiding that by some provisions, laws and formal agreements that frame public freedoms and women's freedom.

The regions of northern Syria have also recently witnessed cases of suicide and murder under several names, and this increases our tasks in organizing, resistance and struggle in the face of these images left by outdated mindsets.

Women deserve a free and secure life and do not deserve to be killed and displaced under occupation and the nation-state system that undermines all opportunities for freedom.

Therefore, we appeal to the international community, human rights organizations and feminist movements to act immediately against this injustice to the right of women, as some agreements, laws and provisions are not sufficient to extricate women from what they suffer unless there are practical actions."

The statement ended with chanting slogans that salute the struggle of women.
