Belgian "Brussels Times" newspaper quoted Belgian Defense Minister Philippe Gouven, who told the Federal Parliament Defense Committee, "that he hopes that a decision will be taken regarding the deployment of four Belgian F-16 aircraft before July."

According to the minister, F-16s will be deployed in Jordan for a year, starting in October, along with 95 soldiers, as part of the international firm resolve to combat ISIS mercenaries in Iraq and Syria, and the deployment will be the third of its kind for Belgium.

The minister indicated that the missions of the aircraft would be to protect ground forces, reconnaissance and targeted attacks against ISIS. "This deployment includes extensive preparations, including the transportation of equipment by sea, which is scheduled to take place in early August," he added.
