Al-Ghanimi said in a press statement that the United States has started to leave Iraq, and its forces have begun to physically withdraw from 15 military bases.

He pointed out that the Americans were confined to two bases, the first in Hewler and the second was the Ain al-Assad base in Anbar.

Al-Ghanimi added that the United States is committed to remaining in the two bases (Erbil and Anbar), but the popular and parliamentary pressure insists on the withdrawal of its forces from all bases.

The Iraqi government announced last month that it would "not retract" its decision to remove foreign forces from the country, after the crisis that escalated between Baghdad and Washington against the background of the killing of the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani.
