Dêrik Conference .. The first political conference in the liberated areas

In a bold step for Democratic Autonomous Administration in northern Syria, the Democratic Society Movement(TEV-DEM) and Democratic Autonomous Administration have invited dozens of honest Syrian opposition advocates for a democratic Syria in which the rights of all minorities are safeguarded within and outside Syria and holding the MSD's conference in Dêrik from the Baathist regime in late 2012, which is the first conference to bring together the Syrian opposition in all its spectrum within the Syrian geography.

The MSD's founding conference was held on December 8, 2015 under the slogan "Together Towards Building A Free and Democratic Syria." The conference resulted in the formation of the "MSD", which was then headed by Elham Ahmed and Haithem Manna. The rules of procedure of the Council are defined as a national democratic Syrian political project that seeks to include all the social components and political entities at this crucial special stage.

The Council includes dozens of Syrian politicians and academics opposed to the Syrian regime and many blocs such as the political forces in Democratic Autonomous Administration and the National Democratic Alliance of Syria, the Bloc of Kurdish Political Reference Parties, Gathering of the Dignity and Rights and it is the political cover of SDF.

The importance of the Council (for Syria in general, for northern Syria in particular)

At the Syrian national level, whose national social experience in Autonomous Administration and the military in SDF is considered to be a general political solution on the Syrian ground, the importance of MSD is that it is able to attract all the spectrum in the area, tribes and blocs, and a system of thought that guarantees rights, renounces racism and exclusion, and supports the will of society to manage itself and to ensure Syrian unity, land and people.

It plays a major role in building a forum and umbrella for the tribes, races and religions of the north and east of Syria, which is considered the most diverse region in Syria, and sees as a refuge for any bloc, clan or national political body that is protected and expresses its opinion and support for any comprehensive solution to the future of Syria.

At the general Syrian level, it distanced itself from any societal Syrian conflict, and it is possible that it is available within Syria as a platform for a democratic, decentralized Syria. It avoids any thought or entity that investigates any Syrian component or does not guarantee its rights.

The second and most important thing is that this council is contrary to the regime and the mercenary opposition abroad, it is composed of a comprehensive national political and social bloc from all parts of the Syrian land and each component represented therein, where it does not deny any component or thought, in addition to its representation of a distinctive military force locally and regionally Internationally, SDF are fighting terrorism and occupation in Syria in all its forms.

What does the political document of MSD include?

The Council has a political document that adopts several principles that it has mentioned since its founding conference in 2015: ending the authoritarian regime and building a pluralistic democratic parliamentary system in a decentralized state. The council aims to fight the terrorist gangs, referring to IS mercenaries and the Turkish occupation, while the Syrian society and the constitutional recognition of the national rights of the Kurdish people and Syriac Assyrian, Chaldean, Turkmen, Armenian and Circassian peoples.

The Council notes in the context of the political document that they are inspired by the Renaissance stations in the Eastern cultures of Islam, Christianity and other beliefs as a common heritage in the Syrian homeland for all its components. The freedom of women is considered a guarantee of all freedoms, while youth are classified as the active force in society.

On the social side, the Council stated in the document that they are working to guarantee the rights of people with special needs, in particular the victims of the shocking war that Syria has experienced in the last five years, besides protecting children and developing creative projects to save the children of years of violence from the consequences of displacement, militarization and illiteracy, In education, health and employment issues.

From building local councils to negotiate with the Regime

Three years have passed since the formation of MSD, which is considered the cover of SDF, which liberated vast areas of the Syrian north, liberating areas such as Manbij, al-Tabqa, al-Raqqa, the southern Hasakah countryside and the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor .

MSD was the first party to organize civil life in these newly liberated areas, forming local councils such as al-Raqqa, al-Tabqa, Manbij and Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, which in turn revitalized life in areas where life had almost ceased during occupation. In addition to providing these services to the families and building relationships with some international parties in order to obtain material support for the reconstruction of cities that have been left behind by wars over the past 6 years.

The Council was one of the main parties in the Declaration of the Constituent Council of the North Syrian Federation, which came after long discussions between the components of the North of Syria, announced on  March7, 2016, and announced its social contract on  July 1, 2016.

To continue its efforts to restore the Syrian society, which was devastated by the devastating war, it declared its readiness to negotiate and meet with any party concerned or influential in the Syrian crisis "without preconditions."

It has had many meetings on the external and internal levels, both with the International Coalition or with European delegations, in addition to its agreement to negotiate with the regime in Damascus last July, resulting in the formation of negotiating committees to submit reports on the two draft solutions to both parties and, where observers considered it a serious step of the regime and a new development at the internal level.
