Ain Issa people demand repairing water networks

The People's Municipality in Ain Issa in Tel Abyed / Girê Spî began, after many complaints by the people of the district, pumping water to the neighborhoods which water did not use to reach them. It launched, since the beginning of April, a project to extend and repair all water networks in the district.

The municipality then confirmed through a statement to ANHA agency that it pumped water to all the neighborhoods of the district after it extended all the water networks and repaired them, except for the networks of the Eastern neighborhood because there is significant damage, but it promised to work on those networks and repair them as soon as possible.

The People's Municipality has not fulfilled yet its promises to the residents to pump water regularly to the Eastern neighborhood which is still in bad condition in coincidence with ceasing the municipalities’ tanks to distribute the water in the neighborhood under the pretext that water has reached the entire district.

The citizen Nazmiya Mohammed from the Eastern neighborhood said, "In the Eastern neighborhood, we are suffering from a severe shortage of water. Water tanks come only once a week and we do not have enough water for the house."

Nazmiya Mohammed added, "We, the Eastern neighborhood's women, submitted several complaints to the municipality to repair water systems at that time, and it has promised to pump water to the neighborhood, but so far, we have not seen what the municipality has promised us."

In a related context, Siham al-Ali called on the People's Municipality to repair the water networks. Siham al-Ali continued, "Water is life and human cannot live without water so we demand the municipality to repair the water defects in the neighborhood to solve this problem because the people are severely suffering from scorching temperatures.

Sometimes we wish to be the residents of the western neighborhood as water is available there. We suffer so much that we cannot get a water tank to provide us with water and fill our domestic tank, but sometimes the water tanks are contaminated and unsafe to drink causing diseases to our children like diarrhea.

The administrator in the Water Committee Farouk Mustafa talked to ANHA agency about the reason of delaying the water networks’ reparation and said, "For nearly a month, we assured all the people that we have repaired all the water networks and pumped water, but much destruction that was inflicted to the water networks in the Eastern neighborhood still exists as we have not been able to solve it so far."

Farouk added, "The problem we are suffering from now is caused by the few hours of pumping water due to the small size of the generators at al-Zahira station. We asked the administration in Girê Spî / Tel-Abyed canton a large generator, but we have not received it yet, however; we will receive it in the near future and solve the water problem."

About the broken water networks, the Water Committee of the People's Municipality did not give any statement about the deadline or how to repair them so that questions will remain in the minds of the citizens whose suffering will be continued.
