Oil well is source of inconvenience to residents of two villages

There are three oil wells in Tel-Ahmed town belonging to Tel- Hamis in al-Jazeera region North Syria. During the occupation of the area by the mercenary gangs as Jabhit al-Nusra and after them Islamic State’s gangs who had caused massive destruction to oil wells in particular, where they brought an excavator and dug those wells but in vain, what remains of it was destroyed.

The residents of these villages suffer from the smells and dangers of these wells, and warned of an environmental disaster after the leak of oil, so that one of the children who are grazing the sheep, flaming oil to play, and the smell that emanates from it, some animals died by oil.

The parents are afraid to send their children to graze their sheep, for fear of falling into the pool of oil, as happened a short time ago with a child from Tel-al-Laham when one of his sheep got stuck, in a desperate attempt to save it, he fell in the oil pool and the villagers were able to get him out with difficulty.

The citizen whose name is Khalil Mohammed al-Hussein from Tel-al-Laham said, "This well is very harmful to the villagers, and we can hear the sounds from a distance of 2 kilometers. He stressed that the waste of well that formed a pool of oil, is a danger to their sheep and children, and the villagers are keen not to send their children to graze sheep, for fear they are besieged inside the pond. Hussein hoped that the problem would be resolved as soon as possible.

After a complaint from the residents, People’s Municipality in Tel-Hamis and Tel- Ahmed went to the place. The Co-chair of People's Municipality Tel- Hamis district  Abdul Rahman al-Hadi and the Co-chair of the municipality of Tel- Ahmed, Abdullah al-Matar noted, “We were told that the people of Tal al-Lahm village demanded a solution to the oil leak, from a well next to the village, and in our turn we came to the well to examine the situation."

After checking the well by the municipal committee, Hadi said, "The well does not pose a serious danger to the residents. The municipality will treat the matter and set up a 50 m roadblock to avoid disasters."
