Special glamor for women in 2nd book fair

The 2nd Book Fair which was opened at Zana Hall in Qamishlo helped to show many talents for women, and witnessed a special character for women through the paintings. The paintings refer to several important topics such as combating violence against women, silent nature, folklore, heritage and the nature of Kurdish women.

Two painters Rewan Khalil and Lilian Jamal participate in the fair. The Culture and Art Body in al-Jazeera Region has provided moral support to them, and assisted them in all matters that help to open the fair, expand its scope in the society and promote painting.

ANHA agency met the two painters who indicated that they participated in this fair to show the hidden reality of women which add a beautiful color to life.

The artist Rewan Khalil from Qamishlo said, "I participated in the fair of the Second Book with five paintings as the paintings tell about the nature of the woman who created the love of joy, good and peace."

Rewan added, "I wanted to show the beauty of women through a painting I drew as it tells about five girls who spread joy and happiness everywhere through the joy on their lips, and their colorful clothes in the colors of the mosaic."

For her turn Lilian Jamal, the administrator of Culture and Art in al-Jazeera canton and a member of the preparatory committee of the Second Book Fair said, "The Culture and Art Body of al-Jazeera canton has allocated a section of the exhibition to display paintings on behalf of the Educated Women Association."

Lilian added that she has joined the exhibition with two paintings showing the close relationship between women and nature.

Lilian explained that one of the paintings that was shown is a painting of the artist Berîvan Hamoush which reflects the suffering of Şengal women when they were attacked by IS mercenaries in 2014.

Lilian said, "This fair and other fairs and events gave women a chance to show their suppressed talent for thousands of years."

It is noteworthy that the paintings will be displayed within 5 days of the 2nd Book Fair on behalf of the Educated Women Association.
