Turkey targets all those trying to reach their fields

Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the Turkish state has targeted the people of North Syria in several ways. The Turkish state in the villages on the Syrian-Turkish border has killed many villagers through direct targeting. Turkey also indiscriminately targeted the border points of the People and Women Protection Units with heavy weapons and mortars to create a kind of chaos in the area.

Provocations despite the presence of a barrier on the border

After the failure of all Turkish attempts, the Turkish occupation initiated a new step in 2015 to build a separation wall on the Turkish-Syrian border which length is 781 km where the Turkish authorities use in the construction three-meter blocks of concrete and equipped with barbed wire and thermal cameras, and cameras and infrared rays and vision radars, as well as firearm systems and laser weapons designed to destroy human resources, equipment and drones with the aim of segregating the Syrian-Turkish territory from one another.

The Turkish army prohibits farmers in the border areas from growing vegetables and harvesting crops in agricultural land near the Syrian-Turkish border. The Turkish occupation army targets harvesters and farmers on a daily basis and also burns the land that farmers are trying to reach completely, one of the border areas targeted daily is Ain Dewar area.

Ain Dewar Village

Ain Dewar village, located in the far north-east of Syria, is a village bordering the borders of Bakur Kurdistan, it is also one of the villages that suffers from the violations of the Turkish state, which prevented the farmers from approaching their agricultural lands, and targeted anybody approaches the borders, for the past two years, the villagers have been deprived of crops and grain, as well as vegetables, thus depriving the people of Derik area of the most important source of vegetables.

With the start of the harvest season in Derik area, especially in the border villages, the provocations of the Turkish occupation army began against the people, where agricultural harvesters are targeted while working in the fields with live bullets, and therefore the landowners of bordering fields are unable to harvest their crops this season as well.

Turkey prevents approaching 50 hectares on the banks of Tigris River

The area where the Turkish state prevented the villagers from approaching it, which is located on the banks of Tigris River amounted to 50 hectares, where all kinds of vegetables used to planted, which was marketing its production to many areas of North Syria in addition to the cultivation of wheat and barley, the farmers could not harvest their crops along the entire border of Ain Dewar.

Hawar correspondents met with village peasants while they were in workshops close to their fields near the barrier, who stopped working because of the shooting at the harvesters.

"The Turkish occupation army is targeting the village of Ain Dewar, where the violations of the Turkish state against the people are escalating day by day, the villagers are known to depend on agriculture and animal husbandry, but the Turkish occupation and its army deprived the residents of their source of livelihood "He said.

Khalil referred to what the Turkish occupation army committed during the past year, preventing farmers from using agricultural land and burning the wheat and barley crop, now it repeats the same thing, targeting everyone working in its farmland.

"Despite all the violations committed by the Turkish state, there is silence towards these practices, so we demand that humanitarian organizations carry out their duties to the oppressed," Khalil said at the end of his speech.

For his part, Jawad Ali, a farmer in Ain Dewar area said, "Bordering villages are constantly provoked by the Turkish occupation army, and Turkey fired bullets at the people, which led to the injury of a number of people, two years ago, the residents have been deprived of their source of livelihood and prevented Turkey from planting the border land"

"Today, during the start of the harvest operation, we were shot and forced to stop working, the farmers fear that the fate of this year's harvest will be burning as last year," he said.
