The city of Qamishlo recently witnessed a protest gathering attended by dozens of residents, who held banners calling for a solution to the fuel and electricity crisis, improvements in economic conditions, and condemning the withdrawal of subsidies for diesel fuel and the resulting increase in its price.

The protesters chanted slogans calling for social justice and improved living standards, before the gathering turned into a demonstration that moved through the central market.

Participants stressed that the removal of subsidies for diesel fuel, the increase in fuel prices, and rising commodity prices have directly affected their daily lives and livelihoods. They pointed out that the continuation of the crisis is increasing the cost of living and threatening the livelihoods of local residents.
