Washington warned Syrian regime of expanding conflict

Washington has threatened the Syrian regime that it will take firm action in response to violations of the cease-fire in the north-west, and warned of the expansion of the conflict.

The United States warned Syrian regime on Friday evening it would take "firm and appropriate action" in response to "violations" of the ceasefire, saying it was concerned about reports of a military operation in a non-escalation zone in the northwest.

Washington also warned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of expanding the conflict.

State Department spokesman Heather Nauert said in a statement on Friday. "The United States will take firm and appropriate action in response to violations of the Assad regime as a guarantor of this zone of non-escalation with Russia and Jordan."

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, in Britain, said on Wednesday that the forces of the Syrian regime which just won its victory last week in southern Damascus, began to move to Daraa province in southern Syria.

Syria's media said planes had dropped leaflets on areas controlled by opposition fighters in Daraa urging militants to disarm.
