Avin Sweid: Our campaign has attracted the world's women tremendously

Afrin canton has been exposed to Turkish occupation’s attacks since 20 January where several cities, villages, holy places were destroyed by these attack and large numbers of women, children and elderly men lost their lives and hundreds were wounded.

The Turkish occupation and its gangs are still on going and its brutal practice against Afrin women where they are kidnapped and raped.

Kongra Star launched a campaign under slogan “Women Revolt for Afrin“ in a statement in 8 April to escalation and struggle till dismissing the Turkish occupation from Afrin.

The campaign continues in its second stage by presenting data in the communes, which is considered one of the smallest cells in society, organizing marches and meetings that call for supporting the resistance of women in Afrin and standing up to the Turkish aggression in addition to various activities.

Kongra Star campaign was not confined to only in North Syria, but resonated around the world, resonating with international women's movements. Women revolt against Turkish barbaric practices against women and civilians in Afrin.

Delegates included women from French, German leftist parties, EU parliamentarians, women doctors, human rights activists, women and civil society, where they visited women's institutions in Rojava and the women's village "Jin War".

The German delegation also visited the camps of Afrin people who are living in al-Shahba canton, to know the conditions of the people and their support and make their voice heard to the world.

The women's revolution in northern Syria is unique in the Middle East and the world, and women manage themselves in all political, military, social, cultural and economic fields, and they have achieved great achievements by obtaining their rights and freedoms and getting them out of control of prevalent masculinity in the Eastern society.

Hawar news agency (ANHA) interviewed with Avin Sweid talking about the second stage of Kongra Star campaign and the steps that will be taken in the coming period.

Avin noted at the beginning  of her speech "The women in Rojava and the world did not stand idly by the brutal Turkish state practices, but unleashed their revolution and began to join the ranks of the resistance and the struggle against the Turkish fascism. This campaign has cemented relations between North Syria People and world peoples. A lot of international fighters joined the revolution and promoted Rojava and martyred in order to achieve the freedom of women."

She added "Thus their blood have mixed with the blood of the Syrian people. Among them is the British fighter Helen Qaraçox who was martyred in defense of Afrin city. The campaign was also joined by many foreign women's delegations, who worked to show the reality and suffering experienced by women living in the camps in al-Shahba canton to public opinion.”

"We will not stop until liberating Afrin city from the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries and the return of the people to their homes we will step up the struggle and resist with all our strength and we will expand our relations with the international women's movements and organizations".

At the end of her speech, she called on all women in the world to stand up and support the campaign to be the voice of right and freedom for the women of Afrin and to demand the end of the arbitrary violations of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries."

The first stage of the Kongra Star campaign, entitled "Women revolt for Afrin", was launched on 8 February to stop the Turkish bombardment of Afrin and to prevent massacres against women, children and civilians and support the resistance of the Age in Afrin.
