Armenian opposition's leader running for presidency in country

The Armenian Elk party nominated officially its leader Nicole Pashinyan for the presidency of the government after protests witnessed in the country that resulted in resigning the President Serzh Sargsyan last week.

So far, Nicole Pashinyan who is at 42 is the only candidate for presidency of the government, but he needs a number of votes from the ruling Republican Party which has a majority in the Representatives Council to win the post in a vote that would be held by the council on Tuesday.

Pashinyan said, "We have a mission to resolve the political crisis in the country."

The Prosperous Armenia Party which has 31 deputies in the parliament announced in the earlier of this week that it will vote for Pashinyan, as well as the Revolutionary Federal Party which has 7 deputies.

Pashinyan needs an additional 6 votes to get a 53-vote majority in the council that is consisted of 105 deputies.
