The spokeswoman for Zenobia Women's Gathering Council, Khod Al-Issa, commented on the death sentence issued by the Iranian authorities against activist and journalist Bakhshan Azizi and activist Sharifah Mohammadi, and the gathering's joining the Women's Media Union's campaign (No to executions).

Khod al-Issa referred to the death sentence as an attempt by the Iranian state to stand in the way of women's will seeking freedom, far from the state's controlling, oppressive policies that are hostile to women's freedom.

Khod stated that hundreds of activists like Bakhshan and Sharifah are detained in Iranian prisons and are subjected to daily pressure and torture. She said that women in North and East Syria support the struggle of "our struggling comrades in Iranian prisons and we will not abandon them."

Khod al-Issa, the spokesperson for the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council, denounced what she described as criminal acts against female journalists and activists in Iranian prisons, and indicated that these crimes are a continuation of the murder of the young Kurdish woman, Jina Amini (22 years old), by the Iranian morality police.

Following her murder in mid-September 2022, widespread protests led by women and under the slogan "Women, Life, Freedom" swept Eastern Kurdistan and Iran.

Khod al-Issa confirmed that they (women in North and East Syria), in order to achieve justice for every woman wherever she is, will continue their struggle at a higher pace. She said: "Just as we share the same suffering, our right is also one and we will not give it up as long as there is a woman who is subjected to violence."

The spokeswoman for the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council, "called on all women of the world to stand in solidarity with each other, unite their voices against violence and stop death sentences," and called on human rights and humanitarian organizations and those that care for women's rights to perform their duties and stop violence against all women.
