Women's delegation meets with French Parliament's head, discusses latest developments in Syria

The women's delegation from North and East Syria continued its diplomatic tour in Europe, as they held a meeting on Wednesday evening with the head of the French Parliament and a number of representatives from the French Left and Popular blocs, in addition to meetings with representatives of political parties, including the Green Party.

During the meetings, the latest developments in Syria were discussed, emphasizing the need to implement the provisions of the March 10 Agreement signed between the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, and the head of the transitional government in Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa. The delegation called on France to play an active role in pushing the transitional government to implement these provisions.

The meetings also gave special attention to the situation of Syrian women, particularly in North and East Syria, and emphasized the importance of guaranteeing women's rights in a future Syria and building a democratic, decentralized state that protects the rights and freedoms of all components.

The delegation also highlighted the policies, massacres, and violations targeting some Syrian communities, including the Alawites in the Syrian coast and the Druze in Sweida, emphasizing that any political solution must guarantee justice and equality.

The delegation includes Amina Omar, the administrator of the Women's Council in North and East Syria; Mona al-Youssef, the spokesperson for the Syrian Women's Council; Shahrazad al-Jassem, the spokesperson for the Zenobia Women's Gathering; Jiyan Hussein, the member of the Kongra Star Coordination; and Georgette Barsoum, the head of the Syriac Women's Union.

It is worth mentioning that the women's delegation began its official tour on September 6, visiting several European countries, where it held a series of meetings with political, parliamentary, and women's figures.
