Women of Garkê Legê: Leader Ocalan’s freedom means dignity

Women continue to insist on their demands for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, affirming that these long years have not weakened their struggle, but instead strengthened their connection to his ideas and philosophy, as well as their ongoing calls for his physical freedom.

In this context, several women from the city of Garkê Legê spoke to ANHA Agency. Citizen Khansa Hadi said: “We see the silence of states regarding the leader’s physical freedom and the continuation of his long isolation as unacceptable, because this contradicts all international laws concerning human dignity and the rights of detainees.”

She added that Abdullah Öcalan’s thought represents a turning point in women’s lives, as it gave them the ability to organize themselves and participate actively in society.

Khansa further stated: “For us, the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan has become an urgent demand, as a necessary step to achieve peace and a basic foundation for justice and the principles of human rights.”

For her part, citizen Khabat Akram said that leader Abdullah Ocalan’s philosophy contributed to changing traditional concepts related to women’s roles and opened wider fields for their participation in public life.

She explained that the freedom of Abdullah Ocalan is not related only to him personally, but to the future of society as a whole. She noted that women continuously raise their voices to demand his physical freedom, considering it a humanitarian demand.

She also called on international human rights organizations to take more effective positions and apply pressure to guarantee his physical freedom and end all forms of isolation imposed on him.

Meanwhile, Hevin Murad added that the long years leader Abdullah Ocalan has spent in prison did not end the influence of his ideas, but rather increased their spread in society, especially among women.

She confirmed that women today have become more aware and organized thanks to this thought, which motivates them to continue the struggle for leader Abdullah Ocalan’s physical freedom.

She stressed that his release would play an important role in achieving stability and peace.
