Writer: Intellectuals must guide society for culture of Kurdish Unity

Amid the rapidly changing political developments in the region, voices from different sectors of Kurdish society are growing louder, calling on political forces in Kurdistan, especially in Rojava, to achieve unity in order to strengthen the Kurdish position in facing current challenges.

In this context, Kurdish writer Diaal Ali, from the city of Çil Agha in the Jazira Canton, said in an interview with ANHA Agency that the current phase, in light of the fast-paced changes, requires strengthening Kurdish unity as a necessity to protect the Kurdish cause and preserve the gains achieved through the struggle and sacrifices of the Kurdish people.

She added: “Party divisions among Kurdish sides make the political and social position of the Kurdish people weak in the face of challenges targeting their cause. It is necessary for Kurdish parties and movements to overcome these differences and work to strengthen unity, which represents hope for the Kurdish people to rid themselves of these sharp divisions within the Kurdish ranks.”

On the role of intellectuals, Diaal pointed out that ending disputes and divisions in Kurdish society is part of their responsibility, stressing that intellectuals are the group most capable of spreading awareness about the importance of unity among the people.

She added: “It is the duty of intellectuals to play a major role in intellectual enlightenment and guiding society toward adopting a culture of unity and cooperation through their writings, and by explaining the danger of division, which threatens Kurdish identity, weakens the general position, and makes Kurds vulnerable to exploitation by their opponents for their own interests and goals.”

She pointed out that the time has come to place the Kurdish national interest above narrow party interests, stressing the need for solidarity among all political and cultural parties. She emphasized that achieving unity would strengthen the Kurdish people’s ability to face future challenges, whether political or social.

Diaal Ali concluded by stressing that responsibility lies with everyone, not only politicians but also intellectuals, calling for joint work to achieve unity, which she described as the best path to realizing the aspirations of the Kurdish people and ensuring a safe and stable future for coming generations.

Writer Diaal Ali Ramadan Ali, born in 1998, originally comes from the village of Girki Khlo in the countryside of Çil Agha and currently lives in the same city. She is the daughter of the late writer and poet Ali Ramadan Ali, known as “Ali Çil Agha.”

She began her literary career in writing poetry and analyses in 2012. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at Al-Furat University in Hasaka in 2016, and from the Faculty of Kurdish Literature at Rojava University in 2025.

Among her most notable works is a poetry collection titled “Seasons Without Joy,” containing 30 poems written in the modern poetic style. She also has a joint work with writer Shama Mohammed in the field of classical Kurdish literature.
