"Women Demand Freedom for Leader

Within the framework of the "I Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan" campaign, the Star Conference organized a series of activities in al-Hasakah, Tal Tamr, Darbasiyah, Tal Brak, al-Hol, and al-Shaddadi cities of al-Jazira Canton. The campaign began on September 9 and concluded on Tuesday, September 23, with the delivery of 1,500 letters that would be forwarded to Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been imprisoned since 1999 in Imrali Island Prison.

In this context, ANHA agency interviewed a number of women who participated in the sending of the letters. Kongra Star member Bayan Khalil from Hasakah declared, "We women gathered today to express our position and demand the physical freedom of our leader."

She further noted that all women segments joined the campaign and expressed their position clearly in the letters written for the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan who surrendered his freedom 26 years ago for the benefit of society as a whole and women, in general.

She went on, "The first and last of our demands as Kurdish women is to be able to see the leader free among us. We wrote our letters beating our hearts for the bodily freedom of the leader."

Bayan added that in her letter, she mentioned how the role of the leader was in giving women their rights, how women according to his philosophy have made immense progress, and how she wishes to meet him free.

For her side, Hadiya Mohammed, a member with Kongra Star in the city of Hasakah, stated, "We will never end the struggle until we see our leader physically released among us." She continued that the leader is confined in four walls, but his mind is free.

She continued, "We will do whatever is necessary in order to liberate the leader who has granted us our rights. This is a debt we must pay." She sent greetings to Leader Abdullah Ocalan, to the mothers of the martyrs, and to all those that are fighting in the squares for freedom.

 In her turn, Fatima Kalash, a member of Kongra Star of the city of Ad-Darbasiyah, made clear that as women, they are indebted to Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who fought on their account. She continued that writing to the leader is one of the measures demanded in the campaign which calls for his physical freedom.

She also added, "We want to have our leader among us because his ideas are in our minds and hearts. The leader struggled on behalf of women and lit the way for us, and thus we will continue to occupy the squares until the end for his liberation."

She emphasized that women in North and East Syria, based on the thinking and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, have become strong and determined figures. She declared that all the wins of women in North and East Syria are due to the leader, concluding her speech by emphasizing the struggle and resistance to keep going until the physical liberation of the leader.
