What are the plans of the new co-presidency of the Free Media Union?
The new co-presidency of the Free Media Union (YRA) confirmed that their goal is to enable all journalists in the region, Syria, and internationally to continue their media activities. Their primary plan is to work, in cooperation with media institutions, to build a democratic society in Syria.

The Free Media Union held its seventh conference the day before yesterday (June 15) in the city of Qamishli, with the participation of a large number of journalists from North and East Syria.
As part of the conference, the union's bylaws were amended, and Idris Hannan and Avin Ibrahim were elected as co-chairs of the union by the conference participants. Both co-presidents made statements after assuming the presidency.
Avin Ibrahim indicated that their plans aim to empower all journalists, especially female journalists, in North and East Syria, across Syria in general, and internationally. She said, "In order to develop the free media arena led by female journalists, based on the call for 'peace and a democratic society' by Leader Abdullah Ocalan, we will continue our work. Journalists, with strong will, established the free media arena, and we hope to continue on this path together."
Idris Hannan emphasized that the existence of a free media amid the chaos in Syria was a moral and vital necessity for the resistant people. He said, "In order to build a society based on truth, free media became a vanguard during the July 19 Revolution. From this standpoint, our primary mission as the Free Media Union, in cooperation with media institutions, is to make an effective effort to build a democratic society in Syria."
