Israeli forces set up checkpoint and restrict movement of passers-by in Daraa countryside

ANHA agency’s correspondents reported today that new Israeli military forces, consisting of several military vehicles and two tanks, entered the road connecting Saisoun and Jamlah in the Yarmouk Basin area in the western Daraa countryside shortly after midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. The forces set up a checkpoint and began searching passers-by, while preventing civilians from heading towards the deeper parts of the Wadi al-Raqad area.

The continued presence of the checkpoint from midnight until now has caused tension and concern among residents and farmers, particularly due to restrictions on civilian movement and access to agricultural land in the area.

The new incursion came hours after an Israeli military force consisting of two vehicles entered the outskirts of Wadi al-Raqad in the western Daraa countryside, near the Mujahim room, coming from the Abu al-Ghathiyar gate.

Areas of the Daraa and Quneitra countryside, particularly the vicinity of Wadi al-Raqad and the road connecting Saisoun and Jamlah, have witnessed repeated Israeli military movements and incursions. In recent months, these have been accompanied by the establishment of temporary checkpoints and restrictions on civilians’ movement and access to their agricultural land.
