UAE condemns Iran's attack on ADNOC tanker

The UAE today condemned an Iranian attack targeting an ADNOC tanker with two drones as it transited the Strait of Hormuz. ADNOC stated that Iran attacked one of its oil tankers off the coast of Oman, but no injuries were reported.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, "The UAE strongly condemns and denounces the Iranian terrorist attack that targeted a national tanker belonging to ADNOC using two drones as it transited the Strait of Hormuz."

ADNOC reported that its crude oil tanker, Barakah, was targeted by two Iranian drones off the coast of Oman. The company confirmed that none of the crew members were injured and that the tanker was not carrying any cargo at the time of the incident.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported early this morning that a tanker was attacked by unidentified projectiles off the coast of the UAE, 78 nautical miles north of Fujairah. The UKMTO added that all crew members were safe.

This comes as negotiations between the United States and Iran remain stalled since the ceasefire went into effect on April 8.

US President Donald Trump unveiled a plan called "Project Freedom" to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced in a statement on its X platform that its forces would begin supporting the plan today with guided-missile destroyers, more than 100 fighter jets, and 15,000 troops.
