Turkey's crimes threaten civil peace and restore specter of ISIS

In light of the continued violations of the Turkish occupation on Syrian territory, the Syrian Federation for Human Rights and 98 Syrian human rights and civil rights bodies and organizations issued a statement to the public opinion, strongly condemning the repeated attacks and crimes of the Turkish occupation that targeted civilians in NE Syria.

The statement pointed out that the Turkish occupation state "committed serious violations and violations of international law and international humanitarian law," targeting many villages and cities, including: "the eastern countryside of Aleppo, Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, Shahba, Manbij, Kobani, Raqqa and its countryside, Tabqa and its countryside, Ain Issa, Gire Spi/Tal Abyad, Qamishlo, Hasaka, Darbasiya, Amuda, Shadadi, Tal Hamis, Gırkê Legê, Serê Kaniyê countryside/Ras al-Ain, and Tal Tamr."

Dangerous escalation and multiple threats

The statement pointed to the recent escalation of the occupation attacks using drones and artillery on the city of Kobani and its countryside, as these attacks aim to pave the way for the occupation of the area by Turkish mercenaries, which raises fears of committing grave violations against the indigenous Kurdish population, and forcibly displacing them.

The statement warned of the danger of the return of ISIS mercenaries under new names, while exploiting the situation to legitimize the terrorist organization's control over the targeted areas.

Urgent demands

The Federation and the signatory organizations expressed their solidarity with the families of the victims and those affected, while offering condolences to the victims and calling for a speedy recovery for the injured, stressing their rejection of violence in all its forms. and called on regional and international parties to shoulder their responsibilities towards the Syrian people and work hard for a peaceful political solution.

The statement put forward the following demands:

1-Immediately stop all acts of violence and killings in Syria in general and the Kurdish areas in particular.

 2-The unconditional withdrawal of Turkish forces and factions loyal to them from all occupied Syrian territories, and exposing violations committed against civilians.

3-Reveal the fate of those kidnapped by Turkey and its factions, and release them immediately, while providing fair compensation to victims of enforced disappearance.

4-Confronting the policies of forced displacement and changing the demographic structure, and standing firmly against these racist practices that threaten civil peace.

5-Finding a just and democratic solution to the Kurdish issue within a Syrian constitution that guarantees the rights of all components without discrimination.

6-Promoting a culture of citizenship, tolerance and civil peace as a guarantee of the unity of Syrian society.

7-Providing material and moral support to the displaced and affected in Afrin, Shahba and other areas.

8-Empowering women, enhancing their role in decision-making and ensuring their rights in all fields.

The organizations stressed that the continued violations of the Turkish occupation threaten the stability and territorial integrity of Syria, calling on the international community to act immediately to stop the attacks, secure protection for civilians, and work to build a democratic Syria that guarantees rights and guarantees security for all its citizens.
