Trump warns Iran of heavy bombing if ceasefire ends

U.S. President Donald Trump said today that many bombs would begin exploding if the ceasefire with Iran comes to an end, adding that the objective of ongoing talks with Tehran remains preventing it from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Trump’s remarks came on the eve of the final day of the ceasefire agreement, which is scheduled to expire tomorrow, Tuesday, unless a new deal is reached to extend the 15-day truce.

Trump also said he does not know whether Iran will participate in the Islamabad talks, but stated that Washington has agreed to attend and that Tehran’s absence would not be a problem for him.

He rejected Energy Secretary Chris Wright’s estimate that gasoline prices may not fall below three dollars until later this year or next year, saying prices would drop sharply if tensions end and Iran does what it is supposed to do.

When asked whether the United States knows who is leading Iran, Trump said: “We have very good ideas, and we believe we are dealing with the right people.”
