Trump seeks to end war quickly as Russia boosts military support for Tehran

International newspapers published today focused on Trump’s efforts to end the war with Iran, alongside Russian preparations to complete gradual shipments to Iran that include drones.

Trump aims to end war with Iran within weeks

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump informed his aides he wants to avoid a long war with Iran and hopes to bring the conflict to an end within the coming weeks.

Nearly a month after the outbreak of the war, Trump told his advisers that the conflict is approaching its final stages, stressing his commitment to the previously set timeline of four to six weeks, according to the newspaper.

In this context, the paper noted that the White House is planning to hold a summit in mid-May in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with expectations that the war will end before the meeting takes place.

Russia moves to send drones to Iran amid military escalation

The Financial Times reported that Russia is preparing to complete phased shipments to Iran, including drones as well as medical and food assistance, in a move aimed at supporting Tehran militarily and politically during the current escalation.

According to the report, secret discussions began between Russian and Iranian officials days after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Tehran, with deliveries expected to be completed by the end of March.

Western intelligence sources, cited by the newspaper, indicated that Moscow is not limiting its support to humanitarian aid, but is also providing intelligence and satellite imagery, in what appears to be the first sign of its readiness to offer direct military support to Iran since the war began.

Western officials believe this step is intended to enhance Iran’s combat capabilities and support the regime’s political stability, particularly as Iran relies heavily on drones in its military operations.

The newspaper also quoted experts as saying that Tehran needs more advanced drone models rather than additional quantities, something improved Russian technology could provide.
