Casualties reported in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, three people were killed and 11 others injured on Thursday in two Israeli strikes targeting the districts of Marjeyoun and Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.

Another Israeli strike on the town of Harouf in the Nabatieh district killed two people and wounded eight others with varying degrees of injuries.

On the other side, the Israeli army announced the death of one of its soldiers after he was critically wounded in a rocket attack targeting its forces in southern Lebanon, bringing the number of Israeli soldiers killed since the beginning of the month to three.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel is working to expand the buffer zone in Lebanon.

On the Lebanese side, the presidency confirmed its readiness to engage in direct negotiations with Israel while maintaining state decisions regarding Hezbollah’s weapons. President Joseph Aoun said: “The decisions taken by the government regarding the exclusivity of weapons and the authority over war and peace are irreversible,” adding that they align with the Constitution, the Taif Agreement, the oath of office, and the government’s ministerial statement.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem stated that negotiating with Israel under fire amounts to imposing surrender and stripping Lebanon of its capabilities.
