US President Donald Trump said he has ordered the military to destroy Iranian boats that are obstructing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump has ordered the US military to "shoot down" and "destroy" small Iranian boats that are obstructing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, announcing the start of mine-clearing operations in the vital waterway.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: "I have ordered the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all boats, no matter how small, that lay mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz," adding, "There should be no hesitation. Our minesweepers are now clearing the Strait."

The US president continued: "I hereby authorize this operation to continue, but at a triple level."

In another post, Trump said that Iran is having a great deal of difficulty in determining who its leader is.

He explained that "the internal conflict is between the 'hardliners,' who are suffering heavy losses on the battlefield, and the 'moderates,' who are not very moderate (but are gaining increasing respect)."
