Thousands in Euphrates Canton celebrate International Women's Day

Thousands of women in the Euphrates canton went to the Kobani forest since the morning hours to celebrate International Women’s Day, under the slogan “With the free will of women, we end the policies of genocide, occupation and isolation,” wearing popular Kurdish dress, and chanting the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom.”

The spokeswoman for the Kongra Star Coordination in the Euphrates canton, Zozan Bakr, gave a speech in which she said, "Women have taken historic steps in the field of women's freedom at the forefront of the Kurdistan liberation movement. We cannot stop halfway. Today, the world is in dire need of the women's revolution in our region to turn into a global revolution against the reactionary mentality that have been fighting women's existence for thousands of years.

In turn, the administrator of the Women’s Council of the Council of Martyrs’ Families in the Euphrates Canton, Aisha Affendi, gave a speech in which she said: “ We are certain that women are capable of returning the course of history to its correct path.” After a period of setbacks in the person of women, this path requires great sacrifices in the military, political, diplomatic, social and other fields, so we are here to confirm that we are ready to move forward on this path.”
